General Submission Info - The Misfit Quill

For all submissions, the email to use is misfitquill@zohomail.com. With all emails, please state which category you are submitting to, add a short bio of yourself, and include a nice contributor picture we can use if your work is accepted into our literary magazine. The issues will be in PDF format. We look forward to your entries!

SUBMISSION PERIODS

The Misfit Quill publishes an issue every spring, summer, autumn, and winter quarter, depending on the start of the new season. The submission period for each quarter often opens about the fifteenth of each quarter:

Spring Issue: March {Submission Period: December 15 through February 10}

Summer Issue: June {Submission Period: March 15 through May 10}

Autumn Issue: September {Submission Period: June 15 through August 10}

Winter Issue: December {Submission Period: September 15 through November 10}

Response Time: Since the staff at The Misfit Quill is not big, it may take several days or weeks until you find out whether or not your piece(s) was accepted or not. Many factors contribute to response time including number of submissions per open period, whether you submitted early or later in our opened submission period, and the busy life of our editor, apologizes in advance for any long delays. If your submission has not been responded to by Feb 1, May 1, Aug 1, or Nov 1, you may email inquire us about it, but not anytime before then.

Spring Issue Response Deadline: February 1 {Issue out March 19-23}

Summer Issue Response Deadline: May 1 {Issue out June 20-23}

Autumn Issue Response Deadline: August 1 {Issue out Sept 19-23}

Winter Issue Response Deadline: November 1 {Issue out Dec 19-22}

Publishing Rights: The Misfit Quill retains all first publishing rights, original rights belong to the owner. If you submit the piece anywhere else after being accepted, please give credit to Misfit Quill for publishing it first. If the piece was submitted to another place before us, we will still accept it.
